India Climbs up 6 Place rank on World Bank’s Logistic Performance Index Rank

World Bank's Logistic Performance Index Rank

Good news for Indian Logistic,India has climbed 06 place rank on the World Bank’s Logistic Performance Index (LPI) 2023.Now Indian ranking is 38th out of 139 Countries Index ranking,due to it’s a significant investments in infrastructure technology.

The Indian world Bank’s Logistic Performance Index rank was 44th rank in 2018 and 54th rank was in 2014.So Current position index improved and climbed up 06th place in 2023.

There are many reason that have led to rise in World Bank’s Logistic Performance Index (LPI) 2023

  • The objective of PM Gati Shakti Yojana 2023 is reduce the cost of transportation logistics, increasing cargo handling capacity and reduce the time taken to transport goods from one place to another place.
  • Prime Minister launched 15 August 2021 on 75th Independence Day PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connectivity in Country.
  • The Main objective this scheme is reduce the cost of transportation and all infrastructure work complete with in time period.And other hand increase the speed and efficiency of goods and people across the country.
  • Gati Shakti Yojana 2023: It is part of the plan to modernize the country’s infrastructure and develop a world class logistics network by government.
  • PM Gati Shakti Yojana main focus has Essentially a digital platform to bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.
  • The multi-modal connectivity will provide integrated and seamless connectivity for movement of raw materials,people, goods and services from one mode of transport to another.

Use of technology for Motoring projects : The PM Gati Shakti Yojana 2023 also focuses on the use of technology to improve the efficiency and speed of transportation.The government plans to use advanced technologies such as drones, GIS mapping, and satellite imagery to monitor and manage the logistics network.

Way to Measurement of  World Bank’s Logistic Performance Index Rank

The international score uses six key dimensions to benchmark countries’ performance and also displays the derived overall LPI index. The scorecard allows comparisons with the world (with the option to display world’s best performer) and with the region or income group (with the option to display the region’s or income group’s best performer) on the six indicators and the overall LPI index.

World Bank's Logistic Performance Index RankThe logistics performance (LPI) is the weighted average of the country scores on the six key dimensions:

1) Efficiency of the clearance process (i.e., speed, simplicity and predictability of formalities) by border control agencies, including customs;

2) Quality of trade and transport related infrastructure (e.g., ports, railroads, roads, information technology);

3) Ease of arranging competitively priced shipments;

4) Competence and quality of logistics services (e.g., transport operators, customs brokers);

5) Ability to track and trace consignments;

6) Timeliness of shipments in reaching destination within the scheduled or expected delivery time.

The scorecards demonstrates comparative performance of all countries (world), regional and income groups.
