Negative Marking

  • Paper-I: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-II: 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Both papers contain objective-type multiple-choice questions.

SSC JE Selection Process

The selection process is based on the Computer-Based Examination and subsequent stages prescribed by SSC.

Paper-I is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II on the basis of normalized Paper-I marks and category-wise qualifying requirements. Final selection and allocation are based on Paper-II performance and post/organization preferences, subject to eligibility and other applicable conditions.

SSC JE 2026 Syllabus

Paper-I includes:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • General Engineering according to the candidate’s selected stream

Engineering subjects include the relevant Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and other prescribed disciplines. The standard of questions in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is approximately at Diploma in Engineering level, while certain other subjects such as Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, Physics and Telecommunication are approximately at graduation level.

How to Apply for SSC JE 2026

Candidates are required to complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website before filling the application form. The old SSC website OTR is not functional for the new website.

The application can be submitted online through the SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.
